Our Host Families

Our own housing manager selects our host families only after a thorough screening process. She makes personal visits to ensure that accommodations meet our standards and regularly checks in to ensure our standards continue to be met. We accept only families that can provide a single room or more that the student can call their own. Additionally, the family home must be in close proximity to public transportation so the student can easily reach our facility. Host families must also show an interest, as we do, in meeting and interacting with young people from America.

Our hosts will provide breakfast and dinner daily for their student guest and are compensated so students will find meals here comparable to what they have at home.

Even though some students at first find the idea of living with a German family somewhat frightening, all fears seem to vanish after the first ice is broken. We encourage home stays as a way of adjusting to the new cultural environment, but we also run a student residence. The apartments (doubles) are set up like studio apartments. Every apartment has its own bathroom and a kichtenette area as well as a balcony. Laundry facilities are available.
